MICROCHIPPING
As of April 2016 it is a legal requirement for all dogs in Ireland to be microchipped.
Having your pet microchipped is quick and largely painless, involving the placement of an electronic chip (about the size of a rice grain) under the skin at the back of your pet’s neck. Once inserted the chip is there for life and does not need to be replaced or updated.
Veterinary clinics, dog wardens and animal welfare organisations routinely ‘scan’ stray animals for microchips. If the animal is chipped, the chip number will appear on the scanner and the owner’s name and details can be retrieved in minutes. The owner can then be contacted and a safe return home for the animal can be arranged.
If you’re interested in finding out more about microchipping or to book an appointment with us, please call us on 091 632722.

VACCINATIONS
A vaccination is an injection that is given to dogs, cats and rabbits of all ages to protect them from specific infections and diseases.
Vaccinations are very quick and almost pain-free, and an initial course usually consists of two injections that are administered over a couple of weeks. This is done to help their bodies build up immunity to particular diseases.
However, just one vaccination will not give your pet lifelong immunity. This means that your pet will require annual booster vaccinations in order to help keep them fit, strong and able to fight off infection and disease.
We also provide rabies vaccination if you need to take your pet abroad.
